Hyundai Motor India has announced the name of its upcoming SUV – Hyundai Exter. This new compact SUV will rival the likes of Tata Punch and other entry-level compact SUVs in the Indian market.
The Exter will sit alongside Hyundai's strong SUV portfolio, which includes the Venue, Venue N Line, Creta, Alcazar, Tucson, Kona Electric, and Ioniq 5. It will be positioned below the Venue in the company’s lineup.
This model will be based on the same platform that underpins the Hyundai Aura and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The Exter will employ the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as the Venue, Grand i10 Nios and Aura. Hyundai might offer a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit as well. There are also rumours of an all-new EV variant joining the line-up in the future.
Like other Hyundai SUVs, the Exter will come equipped with segment-leading features. It might get LED headlights and taillights, touchscreen infotainment, an electric sunroof and automatic climate control, etc.
Speaking on the announcement, Mr. Tarun Garg, COO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “We are proud to announce the name of our new SUV – Hyundai EXTER that exemplifies the pulse of Gen Z buyers while empowering them with a smart mobility solution to fuel their wanderlust. Hyundai EXTER is the 8th model in our line up with a SUV body style and we are confident that this new member to our family will provide further fillip to our growth in SUV sales”
